In this series, I’d like to share with you an exciting strategy to finding your dream illustration jobs and how I got my dream illustration client – Papyrus.

how-to-find-illustration-jobs-part1-thumb

This strategy is called “Start with the end in mind”. There is power in knowing clearly what kind of illustration job you want. More you know what you want, easier it will be for you to get it. It’s amazing how so often we want illustration jobs but don’t clearly know what kind of jobs. It’s often too vague and not specific. There is power in clarity. Clarity attracts ideas and opportunities. I suggest to all illustrators use this strategy and first get clarity on what is it exactly you want?

  1. Get clear on what you want (be specific about what type of illustration job you want to get)
  2. Feel it as if you already have it
  3. Be open for guidance. Sometimes you’ll get ideas right away on how to approach a specific client.

What kind of magazines and publications attract you? What kind of illustrations would you like to do for them? What kind of artists do they hire? More questions you start asking yourself, more answers you’ll start getting. Each answer brings you closer to your dream job.

I’d like to challenge you and comment below this post, where do you want to see your work? What kind of illustration job do you dream about? if you could start with the end in mind, what would it be? Be specific.
